John Wesley stands downstream from Anglicanism, Pietism, and the wider Protestant evangelical awakening. His movement emphasized conversion, assurance, disciplined societies, works of mercy, and holiness of heart and life. Later Methodist and Holiness traditions drew heavily from his theological and pastoral priorities.
